Global Climate Change Lobby are reporting COP15 looking directing at the lobbies influencing the negotiations and governments. Their short videos are very clear and direct. So far they have intrerviewed Agriculture (responsible for a third of co2 emissions), electricity and gas, alternative energy and climate. I’d love to see the climate denier lobby interviewed.
Which reminds me of a funny situation with Lord Monckton today (see twitpic here). The AYCC stall at COP15 is right near the entrance of the conference. This morning, Lord Christopher Monckton walked in. Monckton is a climate conspiracist. He claims that it is a big project of world government to manipulate people and take all their money. He gets a good viewing on rightwing television and radio around the world although holds absolutly no scientific credentials or clout (in fact, his published articles are not peerreviewed and are selfpublished).

I love the response of this guy on the right. He’s like “what are you talking about?”
Monckton has taken it upon himself to come to COP15 and push ‘the other side’ of the climate argument, which is effectively a joke (as you can see in this youtube clip that my friend Declan took on Monday). He spent about fortyfive minutes arguing with real climate scientists at a stall near ours, wasting their time and testing their patience with his cliams that ‘to fix poverty we should burn more fossil fuels, faster’. We were getting pretty pissed off.
So, Joel from AYCC walked over with a 350 sticker and, with schoolboy trick ease, stuck it to his back without him noticing. Monckton continued arguing and eventually created a massive media prescence around him. The photo was taken Someone stuck on a new sticker (I heart climate change) and it was all on. People from all around the world were looking at his back, not listening to the crazy nonsense he spews out.
